Who runs Jef

Jef is operated from Sweden. For anything on this page, write to hello@yesjef.com. We answer privacy questions as fast as we answer kitchen questions.

The waitlist

When you leave your email on the landing page, we store that address only to write to you when the beta opens. The legal basis is your consent, and the form is processed by FormSubmit, whose service forwards the address to a mailbox we control. We do not use the address for anything else, and we do not sell or share it. Ask us to delete it at any time and it is gone.

Your account

The app uses Clerk for sign-in. With Google, Clerk receives your email address and basic profile (name, picture); with email and password, Clerk stores the credentials. We store your email and what the app needs to run, and a session cookie keeps you signed in. There is no advertising or analytics tracking on this site or in the app.

Cooking sessions

A Jef session can capture camera and microphone data. That is the point: Jef follows what is happening on the counter. The rules we hold ourselves to:

During the pilot, raw session media lives on the machine that runs the session, not in the hosted app. Derived data, such as events, annotations, and state, may be stored to make sessions replayable. The pilot plan and its retention decision are recorded in the project’s documentation.

Who processes data for us

We keep the list short and expect each of them to handle data under EU rules:

How long we keep things

Waitlist addresses stay until the beta communication is done or you ask us to remove them. Account data stays while your account exists. Pilot recordings follow the retention decision recorded for the pilot and are deleted when that pilot ends unless you have explicitly opted into keeping them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, have it deleted, or have it moved, and you can object to processing. Write to hello@yesjef.com and we will act on it. If you believe we handled something badly, you can complain to IMY, the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection.

Children

Jef is a cooking assistant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

When this policy changes in a way that matters, we update the date at the top and say so where you can see it.
